14. Petition

Posted by in Songs on Jul 4, 2017

After the mountains taxed every ounce of their strength, our pioneers offer this simple yet ardent prayer to God.  With introduction set for alto/mezzo and tenor solo, the main piece is set exclusively for choir with orchestral accompaniment.

Ending of Bob Marquis’ narration:

“Our party of pioneers had set out six months earlier, proudly, confidently
calling to all of mankind to ‘Come along on their journey to glory!’
Because in their God they were strong.
“Now, in the humility that comes when all else is played out,
they begged – for help – from God.”

Lend Your hand to lead the way.
Guide us on our path this day.
Beautiful…Bountiful
In our prayer we plead our need.
Beautiful…Bountiful
Hear our prayer, please heed our plea.
