3. Proposal

Proposal is the expanded, yet simple “folk song” piano piece I played for Bob Marquis in late 1992. It became the impetus for the show, and the principle thematic material for the entire Pioneer Songs. Fragments and quotations from the motif are heard in the Prelude to Act 2,The Oxen, The Desert and joyously revisited in Celebration at the show’s conclusion.
